Kardia
Psuche means soul and Kardia means heart. The second set of speakers that we built when we started was the M5. The Psuche Kardia are the replacement for them. They have been the heart and soul of our business for many years so we felt the name was very appropriate.
Detailed Sound & Tight Bass
Psuche Kardia Are exciting not just because of there amazing frequency response that extends from 30 Hz to over 40 kHz, but also because of their amazing detail. As you can see the form is very aerodynamic. This eliminates standing waves both inside and outside the speaker. Standing waves are turbulent air pockets that occur around and inside square speakers. When they occur the flow of clean air and with it clean sound is impeded. Because we have gone to such lengths to eliminate the standing waves, detail, efficiency and tight bass is much improved.
Cabinets
The cabinets are made from a special laminate made for us by custom wood just north of Christchurch. They are formed under extreme pressure and at moderate temperature in such away that they can not flex like a typical flat sided speaker. Cabinet resonance is virtually eliminated. This is very important as that resonance can destroy the emotive listening experience. This harmonic resonance is usually at one frequency and just like our brain will turn down annoying sounds when we live next to a busy road or airport it will turn down a harmonic in speakers. The problem is that our brain will turn down a lot more of the audio spectrum than just the harmonic so we loose a lot of the capability of the speakers, especially where quality is critical around the vocal spectrum.
The Psuche Kardia’s also lean back. We have done this so that sound from both the woofers and the tweeter reach your ear at exactly the same time. The tweeter is not forward of the woofer like it is with most speakers. This may not seem important until you think about the fact that we as humans can detect direction by turning our head just a few degrees. This shows that we can detect differences in sound less than a milli-second apart. If the tweeter is forward of the woofers everything above 2500 Hz is reaching your ear early which is not ideal. When all sound reaches your ear at the same time imaging is considerably improved. This is where the speakers seem to dissolve into the background and the musicians and vocalists are positioned across the room just like being there with you in person.
You will see that we have used two of our new high efficiency low distortion 6 inch woofers. They are mounted in their own ported chamber which provides very tight accurate bass. The 5 inch mid woofer is mounted in a sealed chamber which improves the transient response or speed of the woofer, resulting in outstanding detail and clarity. We have also used our beautiful new 22 mm silk dome tweeter. This is operating from 2000 Hz but extends beyond 40 kHz which gives the speakers an open smooth air about them which is quite remarkable in a loudspeaker of this price.

Psuche Kathar
Kathar
Psuche means soul and Kathar means to surround. The Psuche Kathar are the matching surround speakers for the Psuche series. They can also be used as wall mounted for an in room music system. They offer considerable benefits over in-ceiling speakers that are very susceptible to harmonic resonance and poor airflow characteristics. A single pair of Psuche Kathar speakers can fill a room that may require up to 10 in-ceiling speakers so there is also a measurable cost saving as well as significant sound improvement.

As a surround speaker detail is critical in creating an emotive environment in a movie. Because of the exceptional detail the Psuche Kathar offer, movies are more lifelike and three dimensional.

Psuche Lalia
Lalia
Lalia means speech, for a centre speaker to be outstanding it must be able to reproduce the nuances and dynamics associated with the human voice. We have incorporated the technology in the Psuche Kardia’s into the Lalia to do exactly that. While the cabinet is considerably smaller the amazing aerodynamic form both internally and externally allow this remarkable centre speaker to perform in a way that matches the Psuche Kardia Main speakers. While it does not have quite the bass extension as the main speakers the detail is incredible and the tonality across the front stage is balanced and precise.
Detailed Bass
By having the bass woofers, which use the most air, at the edge of the cabinet standing waves are kept to the barest minimum. This means detail and dynamics are superb.
Aerodynamic Profile
The front of the speaker is curved. This means not only is the cabinet rigid but the response across a wide arc is even and balanced. Even in a wide theatre there are no flat spots, everyone across the room gets a similar level of sound performance.
The human voice is probably one of the most amazing instruments; it can change pitch and volume in a fraction of a second so a dynamic centre speaker with very fast transient response is important. While a lot of companies go to little effort with centre speaker design we have designed the Psuche Lalia from scratch to be more than capable of dealing with the rigours of speech and vocals whether it be a movie or live concert. We believe the effort in producing the Psuche Lalia has been worthwhile.
Psuche Kratos
Kratos
Kratos means power and dominion, an attribute we require in our subwoofers. Our Psuche Kratos subwoofer has been designed with several requirements being at the top of our priority list. We wanted a subwoofer to not only be powerful and to truly reflect the dynamics of an explosion or approaching train, we wanted it to be very fast and musical and reproduce the passion of the timpani or string bass. We believe that is exactly what we have achieved with our Psuche Kratos.
Detailed Bass
Featuring an active 12” aluminium cone woofer, a 12” aluminium cone Passive Radiator (air Spring) and a very high power amplifier these subwoofers are not only beautiful they provide quite remarkable bass. Tuned to 22 Hz they provide lifelike energy that is not only heard but felt.
Aerodynamic Profile
Due to the aerodynamic profile when this subwoofer is placed in the room correctly it is often hard to tell where the bass is coming from. This means that it integrates extremely well with the main theatre system or two channel Hifi.
With Phase control, high level input and bypass filters these subwoofers are easy to setup and exciting to use.
